Explorer helps you make the most of your next big adventure with the addition of a rear-wheel-drive platform and your choice between four powerful engines. For additional traction on your escapades, available Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System™ helps you get where you're going. And with the ability to tow up to 5,600 lbs., when properly equipped, you won't be slowed down, not even with a hefty camper in tow.
Whether you're making your mark in the wilderness or discovering the city, the Explorer makes it easy to maximize your adventure ahead.
As part of the redesign, Explorer now offers two high-powered trims. The Explorer ST has an athletic look that's matched by a powerful 400-hp engine and driving dynamics engineered by the Ford Performance team. The Explorer Limited Hybrid packs a similar punch, it is a no-compromise hybrid SUV that's engineered for big adventures. Not only is it the only hybrid in its class that can tow 5,000 pounds, it's also fully off-road capable. The rear-wheel-drive model also offers an EPA-estimated range of more than 500 miles between fill-ups.
Once you're inside the completely redesigned Explorer, you'll notice an array of available amenities. Interior attributes like tri-Diamond perforated leather seating surfaces, a hexagon carbon-fiber-lined front dash and a precision-engineered center console with a rotary gear shift dial fill the cabin with a refined and dignified look.
When you have to get things done, the Explorer has your back. The combination of adaptable seating for up to seven and an available Cargo Management System means you can get your star player and her friends to practice without a hitch.
