The Ford Blind Spot Information System uses sensors to detect if there is any other vehicle traveling behind you within 10 feet on either side of your car. The blind spot is the area behind and on either side of you where your side mirrors are unable to see.
If you are getting ready to change lanes or make a turn it is critical that you know whether or not there is a vehicle there that could run into your vehicle when you make your move.
The Ford Blind Spot System also includes Cross Traffic Alert that tells you when you are backing out of a driveway or parking place if there is any cross traffic approaching your position. These warning systems are designed to be your "eyes" so that you don't make any sudden moves into space that you cannot immediately see oncoming traffic. When the coast is clear, then you will be able to proceed, but not until you look to make sure.
