It’s been four years since the current generation Mustang debuted, which in automotive terms means it’s time for the “mid-cycle refresh.” Given this pony car’s storied history—and the fact it’s the bestselling of its ilk worldwide—Ford had to walk a fine line in updating it. The result is the 2018 Mustang, which looks better, performs better, and is more easy to make your own than ever.
The first visual difference is a slightly lower nose, which makes the Mustang look more aggressive while reducing its coefficient drag. The rest of the changes are beneath the sheet metal—an updated six-speed manual has been moved to “standard fair,” while an all-new ten-speed automatic transmission can now be had. Shocks and suspension have been reworked, with Magneride now coming on every model. For customization, there are more exterior and performance add-ons, and a configurable instrument cluster.
